NEIL GRUNGRAS
The Principal of Grungras Consultancy is Neil Grungras.
A distinguished legal adviser and trainer on international
migration, refugee and asylum law practice, Neil has
counseled, represented and overseen the handling of
migration, nationality and residence matters for thousands
of individuals and families worldwide. He is exceptionally
experienced with migrating ethnic and religious groups, and is
recognized worldwide for his accomplishments and expertise
in migration credibility questions involving sexual & gender
diversity.
Neil’s knowledge and skills have been honed working with
and training thousands of professionals and migrants from
dozens of different cultures, countries and backgrounds. He
has extensive experience in residency and citizenship based
on religion and ethnicity, as well as hands-on work in law
practice, government, and migration organizations.
Among his public positions, he directed a regional migration
NGO and a government Resettlement Support Center,
assisting thousands of faith- and ethnicity-based migrants.
He most recently led the world’s leading organization focused
on migration based on sexual and gender diversity.
Neil has personally trained over 3,000 migration stakeholders,
including government asylum & refugee agencies, inter
governmental organizations (“IGOs”), non-governmental
organizations (“NGOs”), refugee & asylum consortia and law
school professionals. His government trainees have included
adjudicators in Australia, Austria, India, Ireland, Israel, Jordan,
Kenya, Malaysia, Malta, Morocco, New Zealand, Spain,
Sweden, Thailand, Trinidad, Senegal, South Africa, Turkey
and the United States. His unique learner-driven approach to
training on sexual and gender diversity refugees is the only
one proven effective in the field.
Over the course of his career, Neil has conceived and authored
dozens of professional tools, publications and articles on
migration and refugees, educating tens of thousands of
stakeholders worldwide in eight languages.
A member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar
Association, Neil is recognized as an Expert in Vulnerable
Refugees, Resettlement and Fundamental Refugee Law by
the European Union Asylum Agency – EUAA. He holds the
degrees of Juris Doctor (including studies in International
and Comparative Laws, University of California 1987) and a
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
